Micrometer-Sized Mesoporous Silica Spheres Grown under Static Conditions
نویسندگان
چکیده
Mesoporous silica spheres ranging from 2 to 6 μm in size were synthesized under static acidic conditions by mixed cationic-nonionic surfactant templating. The mesoporous structure of the calcined silica microspheres was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and nitrogen sorption, whereas the morphology and size of the microspheres were revealed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It was shown that stirring is unfavorable for the formation of silica spheres in the present synthesis. The growth of the micrometer-sized mesoporous silica spheres was examined by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and an undirectional aggregation process was proposed for the formation of these spheres.

The acid-catalyzed synthesis of highly ordered mesostructured materials has led to a variety of twoand three-dimensional periodic symmetries, and has proven to be an effective route for the generation of fibers, spheres, thin films, and other monolithic forms of mesoporous materials. Zhao et al. recently used non-ionic poly(alkylene oxide) block copolymers, under acidic conditions, to prepare w...

Sub-micrometer-sized CdS spheres were synthesized by hydrothermal and solvothermal reactions using Cd(NO3)2.4H2O and CH4N2S raw materials at a constant stoichiometric 1 : 2, Cd : S molar ratio. Various conditions such as solvent type (water and/or ethanol), reaction time and temperature were examined for the synthesis of the targets. The sy...
متن کاملOrdered mesoporous silica prepared by quiescent interfacial growth method - effects of reaction chemistry
Acidic interfacial growth can provide a number of industrially important mesoporous silica morphologies including fibers, spheres, and other rich shapes. Studying the reaction chemistry under quiescent (no mixing) conditions is important for understanding and for the production of the desired shapes. The focus of this work is to understand the effect of a number of previously untested condition...
متن کاملA cationic surfactant assisted selective etching strategy to hollow mesoporous silica spheres.
Hollow mesoporous silica spheres have recently attracted increasing attention. However, effective synthesis of uniform hollow mesoporous spheres with controllable well-defined pore structures for fundamental research and practical applications has remained a significant challenge. In this work, a straightforward and effective "cationic surfactant assisted selective etching" synthetic strategy w...
